NOT YET HUMAN
Not Yet Human is a raw, electric offering from CIA OMKARA—a collision of flesh, flight, sound, and transformation that refuses the tidy categories of identity, body, and being. Berlin’s most boundary-pushing artists gather to unravel the myth of the fully-formed human. Featuring aerialist Oskar Mauricio, ritual dancer EROS IN FURS, contortionist and trapeze artist Gonzalo Becerra, aerialist Aissatou Cassus,. Through contortion, hair-hanging, and mouth-hanging, the artists embody an intimate, uneasy beauty—vulnerability laid bare as an offering to the collective. The irreverent Johnny Questions as host and philosophical provocateur, guiding audiences through a journey that teases the lines between wit and wisdom. With razor-sharp satire and disarming intimacy, he invites us to laugh at the absurdity of our own existence while holding space for its tenderness—using sarcasm, storytelling, and provocation to unmask the contradictions of being human. Composer, live musician, and storyteller LIHLA sculpts a sonic world of multidimensional landscapes—at once ancient and modern, resonant and alive. Special guest Wilmer Osuna Serna appears with a haunting performance of Memorial, offering a moment of stillness inside the storm. This is no ordinary cabaret—this is performance as transformation, ritual as rupture, and spectacle as a kind of prayer.
Set within the expanding universe of OMKARA’s inquiry into the human condition, Not Yet Human explores the liminal: the in-between spaces where meaning unravels and new forms begin to take shape. Drawing from the company’s past works VACÍO, this night engages the contradictions that define us—between instinct and artifice, memory and movement, self and collective. What does it mean to be human when so much of our being resists definition? What is born when structure falls away? Through the immediacy of the body, sound, and shared space, Not Yet Human invites us not to arrive at an answer, but to enter the question.
